Young Mums & Dads

“Every family needs a father — a father who shares in his family’s joy and pain, hands down wisdom to his children and offers them firm guidance and love.”
—Pope Francis

Young Fathers’ Group

Taking Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati as their patron, the Young Dads’ Group draws inspiration from one of his famous quotes, “Verso l’alto” or “To the heights”, which is interpreted as a motivating call to strive for sanctity amid the joys and difficulties of fatherhood.

Under the guidance of Fr Sofatzis, the Holy Name Young Dads’ Group meets once a month at the Earl of Leicester Hotel, Parkside. Originally beginning as an opportunity for a few of the young fathers to come together to read St Augustine’s Confessions, the Young Dads’ Group has now become an opportunity to grow in Faith with other men, blending together philosophy, theology, great company and delicious beer.

All young fathers under 40 are welcome to attend.

“That special power of loving that belongs to a woman is seen most clearly when she becomes a mother. Motherhood is the gift of God to women. How grateful we must be to God for this wonderful gift that brings such joy to the whole world, women and men alike!”
—St Teresa of Calcutta
